Elijah the Graduate!

WOW! I cant believe it. My little goober is growing up! He has graduated into the world of "real school" as he puts it. He was so proud. WE were so proud. All the kids recieved diplomas and their teacher Mrs. Jagoda (who is FANTASTIC!!) wrote a little something about each student and read it at the ceremony. Here is what she had to say about Eli.

"Elijah is always happy. He keeps busy creating great buildings with magnetic tiles, blocks, and legos. Outside Eli likes to ride bikes, dig, and pretend with his friends. His favorite color is green. When he grows up Eli wants to be Iron Man or a Viking and help his son train dragons."

Noah Boah

These past couple of months have been a little tough on Noah. I had been noticing things here and there that suggested that he might not be hearing very well. I was right. I took him to an audiologist and found out he had significant hearing loss. His lack of communication was what brought me to think that this was the case and it was devastating to have it confirmed. He had a quick surgery to inplant tubes in this eardrums that would hopefully repair some of his hearing loss. When we went back to check his hearing again the doctor said he is doing great. Now all I have to do is get a speech thearapist for him. With such a late start, he is having a hard time learning to talk. Hopefully we can get him talking soon. : )

I think between the boys Noah is the more athletic of the two. He has great motor skills and is OBSESSED with sports. The other day we were watching a baseball game of TV and he came into the livving room with a large maraca and a small ball. He was actually hitting it too! So creative huh?

We finally cut his hair. Eric was mad because he wanted to grow his hair out and let him look like a little surfer/rocker kid. but I just thought he looked little a little street urchin. And kinda girly.

Isnt he so stinking CUTE now??? And much cooler for the summer.

He also had a birthday in May! With his severe lactose intolerance it was sortof hard to get together a birthday cake that wouldnt make him sick. But we found a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting that was delicious! Of course it had to be covered in dinosaurs.

Little Miss Avery Lou Who is going to be a YEAR OLD next month. Holy happy birthday Batman! This is sad but exciting. I cant wait for her hair to grow and her first set of pigtails. I cant wait for her little personality to start shining through. She is already a little firework. Hmm my July baby is a firework?? LOL. So heres an update on our "Princess Ruffle Butt"

I love the way she waves. When the boys learned to wave they just flailed around like little monkeys. Not Avery, she waves like a delicate princess in a parade float. No one taught her this, that just how she rolls.

She is learning to walk!! Its pretty stinking cute because she looks like a little dinosaur. She is so proud of herself every time she gets a couple steps down she squeals and claps her hands. SO CUTE!

She and Noah have a love/hate relationship. They are close in age so they either play very nicely together or rip each others hair out. And boy howdy Avery does NOT back down from a fight. In fact I would go so far as to say she wins most of them. Poor Noah....

I'm very frustrated today, well everyday really. I just cant get Eli to listen. Take this morning for instance. I was laying in bed when I say Eli start to walk into the bathroom he knows he isnt allowed in. I sat up and told him "Eli, go in your own bathroom."

He just stood there and looked at me. So I said again "Eli, you have your own bathroom, do not go in there." So what does he do? He shrugs his shoulders and walks into the bathroom anyways. This is basically what he does with anything I tell him to do. He just flat out ignores me. And its not like he doesn't immediately get into trouble for it. He spent the rest of his morning of his bed, got dressed on his bed and ate breakfast on his bed. I thought maybe that would be it, but no.

As soon as we got into the car and I am busy with putting the younger kids in their car seats he gets into my car and steals my pack of gum and shoves almost half the pack of gum into his mouth. When I get into the car and notice that he is fixedly looking out the window I ask him what he is doing. he just shakes his head, the I notice my gum package torn up all over the floor. I ask him if he has gum in his mouth and what does he do? Swallows the whole wad of gum and says "Nope". I am sooo mad at this point. I dont even know what to do with him anymore. Nothing I seem to do makes any difference. Any advise???

Im feeling sappy today. Its not a special day or anything.

Just felt like writing down my affections for my best friend.

And when I get right down to it, thats what he is

my best friend. He is the perfect piece to complete our puzzle.

I love that he gets me coffee when its completely inconvenient to do so,

but he knows it makes my day sooooo much smoother

if I get that extra kick in the morning.

He gets addicted to shows with me. We COULD spend hours

watching shows like "How I Met Your Mother" & "Glee".

We have REALLY retarded inside jokes like talking with a Boston accent.

He does the dishes for me because he knows that theres nothing

I hate more than doing dishes.

He asks me every single day if I will marry him.

Even though we have been happily married for almost 6 years.

Every year for my birthday he takes me on a special trip.

I love our road trips listening to Hanson, Spice Girls, and Backstreet Boys.

Only one of those bands is my doing... LOL.

I love this man.

I love my best friend.

The Amazing Crying Machine

Oh man this child can cry. And cry. And CRY.

I really dont know what to do with him...

He basically wakes up and cries for the better part of his little day.

Theres really not anything in particular that hes crying about,

most of the time we arent even sure what set it off.

I try everything to get him to stop.

-Cuddling and snuggling... nope.

-Time out... screams the entire time.

-Scolding... nope.

-Redirection... just cries while doing something else.

-Ignoring him... he will just walk behind me crying ALL DAY.

If anyone has any ideas on how to beat the

crying monster they would be greatly appreciated!

I really do have the best husband. He is working so hard right now, being in school full time+, working still, playing shows with his band AND amazingly he still finds time to be home with the kids & I. Hes doing great things to give our family a comfortable life. I dont know what I would do without him.

He lets me take pictures of him for my portfolio, even though he feels REALLY awkward. lol.

This girl could make icebergs melt. Avery is so cheery and happy. She has brought that certain girly cuteness to our family and rounded it out perfectly. She is such a content baby. Her favorite activites include; laying on the floor watching her crazy brothers run around her, "talking" to her Daddy, rolling allllll over the house, and just smiling. : ) Her smile is so cute. Its one of those big cheeky grins that collapses her whole face.

Caution: You could potentially get lost in these blue-violet pools.

Here she is on her Blessing day. Grandma Laura made her gown and it was gorgeous. Grandma is just happy to have a little girl now that she can dress up. Its funny how she cant resist buying cutie little outfits when she sees them. It takes some serious will power to pass up tu-tus and flowery headbands!

Talk already kid! If I could just get thins little guy talking I think we could cut the hours of crying back from 10 to 1. Just kidding, but sometimes it feels like thats how much time he spends crying. Over what you ask? Well it could be because someone opened the front door. Not left, just opened the door. Or it could be that I walked into the kitchen and returned without some form of food for him. Hmmm....

He is by far my whiniest child, but he also my snuggly-est. He has also decided that HE is Avery's parent. Its cute at first until I catch him doing things like shoving the Nose Syringe down her little nostril, or "feeding" her by ramming a FORK into her mouth. Oh he scares me sometimes. Ave is a pretty good sport about it though.
Right now he has a cold. Ugh this kid catches EVERYTHING! His little immune system SUCKS! I wish I could just put him in a disinfectant bubble. : ) I can dream cant I??

Update! He has decided to say "baby". He sits and cuddles Ave saying "Ohhhh Baaabyyyy" Its quite cute. : )

There are still days that he drives me bonkers, but for the most part I think this guy has turned a new leaf recently.

~He is more helpful, holding his brother's hand because Mommy has her hands full with Avery. ~He is more affectionate, when he doesn't think I'm looking he is SO sweet to Avery; rubbing her head and saying she has the "cutest little cheekies"

~He is keeping his room surprisingly clean. I think he has figured out that its easier to clean it before it becomes a disaster zone. lol.

He really is excelling in Preschool. I thought he would be the "class clown". Actually hes VERY good. I almost didn't believe he was the same child the first time I stayed for a parent work day. The sad thing is that he has become too old for hugs and kisses in front of his pals. I got a serious glare when I loudly called him "baby" across the playground *cringe*. I cant help it!!! Hes still my baby to me. I still can believe hes going to be four this month.

Wow... I really stink at blogging lately. Its not so much that I dont have a ton of pictures to post or things to share with you all... its just, well my brain is such a jumbled mess that I cant formulate coherent enough words to form a decent blog post. Hahaha...

Any Hooo... back to today's post. My little Eli has started school. Well preschool, but he rides the bus and everything so its a big deal around here.

He is SO excited to get to school everyday and he loves to come home and tell me all about his friends {which are all girls oddly enough} and what they had for lunch and how he was happy that no one threw a rock at his head {???}.

We are fourtunate enough that he knows his teacher very well because she is a member of the church. The only problem is that he is used to calling her Sister Jagoda, instead of Mrs. Jagoda, so naturally this carried over to school. The other kids kept asking if she was his sister and he would just look at them like "Uh no... why in the heck would you think that?" We'll work on that one.

The other super cool thing is riding the bus like a big kid. It drops him off right across the street so its SOOOO much easier for me to go pick him up.

Today was perhaps the cutest thing I have ever witnessed at a bus stop. As Noah, Avery & I walked over to wait patiently for big brother to come home we hear a familiar "Meow" Eli's cat Max had followed us over to wait for his pal too. We sat and called, and the other parents sat and called but he just sat off to the side and ignored us all.

When Eli stepped off the bus he bounded over to him meowing like he hadnt seen him in years. Eli just bends over and scoops him up, which is no easy task when your cat is a Maine Coon who is about as big as you are. He was so happy that his kitty came to pick him up from the bus.

So tomorrow is the day! I am really loving this scheduled induction thing. I'm not worried about when I will go into labor, will I be 2 weeks late like I was with each boy? Nope! I know when and where these shenanigans are goin down!

Now all I have to do is make my house all nice and clean

and make sure my pantry is stocked

{so the boys can devour it all while I'm gone}

and put all of Avery's pretty little things away

Oh is it THAT time ALREADY?

Noah turned a year old on Thursday and we had an awesome little party in the park on Saturday. I think its harder to accept with your second child that they are growing up. With the first child you are always waiting on baited breath for that next adorable milestone and anticipating what comes next. With your second child you realise just how fast that time really goes and sometimes you just wish for a magical remote control so you could pause time and keep your babies as babies.

Sooo... about 2 weeks ago I let Eli ride in the bottom of the shopping cart {I know, I know horrible parent} So I told him to keep his hands in his lap. 5 minutes later what does he do? Sticks his thumb right into the shopping cart wheel. He listens well doesn't he?

So It was bruised and swollen and we went home and iced and such.

Now... today he comes up to me and says

" Mommy! My thumb can talk now" As he lifts the side of his thumb nail off!!!

GROSS!!!!!

Im sorry but that just gives me the Heebie Geebies big time!

What should I do with it? Cut it off? Leave it alone?

Run aways screaming like the little girl I am?????

Boys will be Boys

Wow. I realized as of late, I have SUCKED at blogging. Its not that I'm terribly busy, besides having two rambunctious boys. Its just that I haven't really been wanting to blog. : )

So here's an update on the comings and goings of the Hudson House.

Noah is turning a year old!

Really? It amazing. I know every parent says this and probably people who don't have kids think that its just something that moms say...

But they really do just grow up too fast. It makes me sad.

Noah is walking, climbing, terrorizing.

He says Ma Ma, Da Da, Ba Ba, you know those one syllable words that come with being a toddler.

He points and answers questions with a nod or a shake. Its actually pretty cute.

Eli is growing like a weed.

I think he just grows inches while he sleeps. 97th percent for height. And a whopping 45th for weight. My little bean stalk.

He is starting Pre-school in August!

I know alot of moms are sad when their kids but does it make me so bad that

I am really excited for this?

He needs it. He really needs the extra time around other kids and the extra enrichment that comes with the learning and playing. And I will be able to give Noah and soon to be Avery the attention at home while Eli is at school for a couple of hours a day.

We also moved the boys into the "Big Room"

The coverted garage is really great for them. Im still working on it, I have a lot of fun plans for this space. But we went to Ikea and got a bunch of fun things.

I swear my childeren have little scheming alarm clocks in their baby brains.

Those little alarm clocks tell them EXCATLY when I have

snuggled down into my comforter and my tired eyes are just closing for slumber.

Last night it was Eli with a nightmare...

Not screaming and crying... just Eli talking in his sleep.

Threatening to wake the sleeping bear in the crib next to him.

"No... thats not okay.... I really dont want to do this... this is just not good"

I cant help but laugh at the way he is delicately trying to talk

his sleep demons out of whatever they are doing...

When I get him calmed down and back to a more peaceful unconsciousness

I make my way back to my bed...

get all snuggled next to my hubby {who hears nothing}...

just close my eyes....

start to slip into the veil of lovely rest..........

to be awoken rudely by Noah's high pitched cries for comfort.

The other day we got some licorice that turned out to be really stale.

I thought heck since I cant bite though it we should see what Noah does with it.

Home Work

So we got new pretty couches with our tax returns this year. When I got home it began to severely bother me that the colors of our living room walls were not going to be very symbiotic with our couches. So I painted. : )

Then when I was done with the painting it bothered me that we did not have ceiling moulding.

Another trip to the Home Depot later that bother-some problem was solved. With a trusty husband to stand on a ladder I now have new ceiling moulding.

Dang, now my carpet looks so dingy compared to my freshly adorned walls.

Time to break out the shampooer.

Am I nesting? No... Im calling it "early spring cleaning"

When my brothers and I were younger, we'd watch a bunch of Winne the Pooh videos on raining boring afternoons.

I love "Winnie the Pooh and The Blustery Day" because of all the episodes we watched this one had the best narrative... a nice smooth transition from blustery day to blustery/rainy/flooding night full of heffalumps and woozels and the residents of the Hundred Acre Woods trying to get out of the flood to safety. Even now as I am 24 years old when I experience a particularly windy day (much like today) I'll think to myself... "Boy, today is a blustery day!" For most of Noah's crawling career the kitchen/dining room has been quarantined for fear of him slamming his delicate little head onto the new hardwood floors. I recently torn down the barrier and expanded his horizons to the dining room (the kitchen still holds too many scary adversaries). So where has he been? Gleefully crawling all over his newly acquired domain. Theres really nothing in there but he is SO entertained by this new artificial wood surface to explore. He will spend his entire day in there. No toys, just roaming the floor... if I knew this was the way to keep him happy I would have tossed him in there much sooner. :)

Wow, 8 months has just flown by. Heres what our little Noodle has been up to.

Has four teeth, and uses them,

Crawling, standing, and cruizing,

He has started saying Mama and Baba,

So I thought I would give everyone an update on our little guy.

Ever since we found out about the asthma we have been really concerned with his oxygen levels. No matter what we did they never seemed to be getting better. The doctors usually want to see at least a 95 score. Even that is cause for concern most times. Noah's oxygen was at 85 the first time. With treatment we could work really hard and maintain at around 90-92. So since things wernt progressing and improving much the doctor decided to get another X-ray. (funny story, but I will save it for another time) Turns out he has Bronchitis on top of everything!!! Ugh. This poor guy just cant catch a break. So the antibiotics seemed to be doing the trick until this weekend. The wheezing, coughing, sleepless, irritability is back in full force. Looks like we are trekking back to the doctor tomorrow morning to see whats going on now. I just want my little guy to be happy again. This sucks.

So I haven't been blogging much lately. Theres a reason...

I have no room in my head left for silly tribulations such as blogging,

or getting decently dressed for that matter...

Ive been so ridiculously busy that I havent had the time to post anything.

First we had Eli's birthday party.

Really it was a hit. I made an awesome Dinosaur birthday cake and we had alot of friends and family over. I thought I was getting all of the festivities on film, but I wasnt. There was no memory card in my camera. Yup Im a big fat dummy.

But heres a cute picture of the big 3 year old on his birthday from Grandma's camera.

Eli gots lots of cool presents and really enjoyed hanging out with everyone and being the center of attention. A big plus for Eli. Here he is with his Uncle Lester.

Next reason my brain has decided to take a hiatus.

We all know about Eli's asthma right?

Well guess who decided to follow in big brother's footsteps and the totally out-do him?

Noah has been diagnosed with severe asthma. Which is pretty bad for a child under the age of 1 year to even be diagnosed. Ugh. We have breathing treatments every 2 hours and oral steroids twice a day. This I can handle. What I cant handle is the medication is making him C.R.A.Z.Y.

He is so fidgety and he just wails all day. Then he dosent sleep. AT ALL. He wakes every hour on the hour. Last night it was every 1/2 hour. IM DEAD.

He actually isnt a great sleeper anyway. With Eli he was sleeping through the night at three months after we decided to let him "cry it out" one night. He cried for 45 minutes and has slept fine ever since. I feel like I cant do this with Noah because of his asthma. Any suggestions??

I NEED SOME SLEEP!!

Eli wanted to give Noah is "Dragon" treatment.

Noah wanted to play with tubes.

On a lighter note...

Noah is one of the funniest crawlers Ive ever met. Its like he thought

"Hey whats the hardest most painful way to crawl?"

And that what he does. He gets up on his hands and TIP-TOES and instead of crawling he launches himself forward and lands on his tummy. Really? Yup. But hey its cute right?

Oh man.

I am at my wits end. I have no idea how to deal with my "willful" son.

Here's an example of today's escapade.

Eli woke from his nap in an obvious sour mood.

I saw this and tried to intercede with hugs and cuddles. Not exactly what he wanted. After a while I asked him to help clean up the toys he left in the living room.

{Hes 3 he can clean up after himself right?}

Tantrum #1... He whined and cried and stomped and told me that I should just do it. Not cute.

So he finally cleaned up the toys

{After threatening to throw them away}

As I continued to clean the house he just followed me whining and being obnoxious

So I gave him a snack and told him to play in his room while I cleaned.

Well I didn't get much cleaning done because he screamed and yelled and came out of his room every 30 seconds saying, "I dont want to!! This is bad!! I cant deal with this"

{the last one was funny the 1st time not so much the 20th}

At the 1/2 hour mark I thought to myself...

Am I taking this too far? I just want him to behave, to do as I say.

Its just exhausting. I dont want my son to be defiant and rude.

So he stayed in there until he could sit quietly and play with his toys.

That took an HOUR AND A HALF.

Am I wrong? How do I deal with my stubborn but sweet boy?

Okay.

So after a month and a half of paitently wait to get better

I finally gave in and went to see the doctor about my"cold"

Turns out it wasnt a cold.

It may have started out as a cold but then took on a life of its own.

The doctor checked my ears, nose, throat, and lungs...

then sat back with a stunned look on his face.

I said "Its that bad huh?"

To which he replied

"Well Im amazed you even made it out of bed today."

"You have 2 ear infections, a sinus infection AND

all 4 lobes of your lungs have viral Pneumonia."

To which I replied...

"Wow lungs have 4 lobes?"

So now I have medicine and Im already feeling better.

Its amazing to me how completely different two children can be.

With Eli we never had a problem getting him to sleep. He took multiple naps and went to bed on his own. He even slept through the night at 4 months.

All he ever needed was his crib and binkie...

Not Noah.

He despises binkies.

He takes very short naps, wakes frequently through the night and is just exhausting to get to sleep. If I try to let him cry it out he will Cry and Cry and CRY!

for hours.

He will not fall asleep on his own. I usually end up nursing him to sleep and he ends up over-eating and making himself sick.

I need some ideas. I need some sleep!!

Okay, I really dont know where Eli gets the things that roam around in his cute little head.

We were sitting on the couch today when he came out with a story so ridiculous I had to write it down immediatly. Word for word here is Eli's story. I dont think I could make this up if I wanted to.

"Mommy, last night I had a ache and you came in and put my brain back in because it was a bug and it was going to sting you and it had wings."

by now i am barely restraining my laughter

"Dont laugh mommy, its not funny because the bees where gonna take it away forever and then my blood would fall out and I would not be alive anymore. Is that what you want?? Dont laugh."

Now that this wonderful cold had been passed through the family with hitting me I began thinking "Hmmm maybe I got lucky this year."

It was just waiting for Noah to start teething before it decided to attack.

Now that Noah is writhing in pain and waking up 13 times a night, Why not toss in the good ol' flu? Yay...

Little Noah... fell asleep while screaming in his walker.

Good thing is Eli has decided to step it up and make Noah smile by playing with him.

I just realised I haven't blogged about my little Boog lately.

He is really just growing up amazingly fast lately. I cant believe he will be 3 so soon.

He tells extravagant stories and will have long drawn-out conversations with you.

He docent "play" with Noah, but he tells him that he loves him and will try to make him laugh when he cries. He can be boyishly aggressive, but then feels very bad if he actually hurts you.

He knows everything hes allergic to and likes to recite them to strangers.

He is on a definite dinosaur kick. He has a dinosaur encyclopedia that he looks though everyday.

Oh and yes those are UNDIES hes wearing! We are working on that...

Why is it that people on the west coast say "to the beach" and people on the east say "down to the shore" Just a silly thought.

We took advantage of our dwindleing summer, packed up our boys and drove to Fort Bragg.

The salty cool air, un-naturally vibrant flowers, friendly downtown knic-knac shops... everything about Fort Bragg is homey. We only make it out once a year but it feels like home everytime we come back.

Maybe someday my husband and I can grow old, watch our boys go off to college and start their own families and retire in a old cottage "on the shore".

Holy... moly.

Im not sure whats wrong but my sweet, quiet, cuddley baby has become a screaming, wailing, stiff legged child. Usually Noah is a bottomless pit, always ready for the next meal, but now when i try to nurse him, he just looks at me with this devestating expression and cries even harder. Nothing is working.

Binki? nope... Favorite silky blankie? dont even think about it.... Big brother? running in the other direction.

Anyone who knows Eric knows he has the weirdest food issues and a totally weak stomach. He will honestly vomit from the slightest things, bad food smells, washing dishes hes left out, changing diapers. I really cant be mad at him for it, he just cant control it. Now it seems Eli has inherited this wonderful little quirk from his father.

We were all playing on the floor this afternoon and Eli was growling at Noah making him laugh when laughing turned into spitting up. Eli jumped back in horror screaming "Oh yucky!!" He stood there looking white as a ghost and just up-chucked on my newly shampooed carpet. I know I shouldnt laugh at a vomiting child, but it was really too much for me. I haven't laughed that hard in quiet a while. Then I went to get a towel and my shampooer....

So a few weeks back Eric received an offer from a welding company that bids on jobs across the country and sends qualified welders out to those jobs. He originally thought we would be going to Las Vegas, but that was a little up in the air. The bid hasn't gone through yet and we wern't sure if it was going to happen.

So heres my dilemma, Eric got a "for sure" offer last night for a job in WYOMING! He would be making quadruple the salary he makes now and it would last 8 months. I have to decide soon because we have to be there in less than TWO WEEKS! hmmmm....

Everyone else calls her Anna, but Eli refuses to call her by anything but her whole name. They have had almost weekly playdates since before they could crawl. They are the best of buddies. I hope they remember all the fun they had as kids when they grow up. Jumping on beds, drawing on my living room walls, riding scooters, trick or treating, sharing snacks. Its very endearing to watch them say goodbye at the end of a playdate. It always ends with a giant hug and a kiss on the cheek for AnnaBelle.
